Loss of Email Nick Names – Outlook 2010
In the event that Email Nicknames in Outlook 2010, the following method can be used to restore the files.
1 Close Outlook
2 Export the contacts list as a csv File
3 Export the suggested contacts list as a csv file
4 Open one of above csv files, then open the second one and past it content to the bottom of the first one.
5 Optionally tidy out any unwanted records
6 Save combined file as a csv file.
7 Use NK2edit tool to open the existing Nickname file (this will be empty or have very few entries).
8 Import your full csv file into the nickname file.
9 Save the NK2 file (overwrite existing file when prompted).
10 Re open outlook all should be OK.
Note: Outlook 2010 onwards do have an NK2 file as previous version did – hence this more complicated method.
